PetHobbyist.com is deeply committed to the safety and wellbeing of all our sites' users and their animals.

We encourage you to donate to the Red Cross to assist the many thousands of people left homeless and in need as a result of the terrible damage caused by Hurricane Katrina. Because we know that many of those same people are beside themselves with concern over the fate of their animals, we suggest that after you've given to the Red Cross, you donate to one of the funds established to assist the pets and livestock owned by hurricane victims.

Veterinary Medical Assistance Teams (VMAT), established by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and funded primarily by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF), are working as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) to care for injured animals, as well as provide advice concerning public health issues. You can donate to support their efforts here.
