Product Review ZooMed Laboratories Turtle Tuff Splashproof Halogen Lamp, 75 Watts Item # OH-75 Reviewed by: PHRatz Note: This product was supplied by the manufacturer for long-term test. I wanted to try this halogen light for my aquatic western painted turtle who loves to bask on his ZooMed floating dock for hours each day. The manufacturer states that this bulb must be used with a ceramic fixture lamp only, plastic is not recommended. They also instruct not to use it for more than twelve hours per day. I generally run my lamps for around ten hours per day. As advertised on the box this bulb does make the animal's color appear richer. It's a very nice light color that made the entire tank look better. The turtle seemed to enjoy it, he sat under it sprawled out in complete comfort. Unfortunately even with my ceramic fixture lamp, the bulb stopped working after three days. The turtle and I enjoyed it while it lasted.

PROS: It's very bright, isn't frosted so it produces a nice clear type of light. CONS: It didn't last for 2500 hours. It burned out in 3 days.
